All Geared Up!

Good Evening Girlz!

I have been having so much fun playing around with the different Inka Gold colours lately.  I now have red, gold and silver and hope to add more to my stash soon! (Hurry up and order more colours Victoria!..my enabler!)

I used the Gears die by Ranger.  First off I used the Distress Silver Paint and instead of rubbing the paint on I squeeze the bottle and dab it on so it creates a textured surface.

Once the paint dried..only takes a couple of minutes... I used my VersaMark pad and rubbed it on here and there and then dumped on a rough embossing powder put out by Stampendous and then sprinkled on Zing embossing powder in glitter black.

Here is a close up of the embossing...

And a photo from the side..

For the background I used the Gears embossing folder by Sizzix for Tim Holtz.  After embossing the black cardstock I started adding the Inka Gold colours in Silver and Gold.  It dries very quickly and then use a paper towel to buff it up so its shiney.

To finish it off I popped some of the gears up and it was done!

Thanks for looking!

Twelve Tags Of 2013 - #1

Good Evening Girlz!

I went to the Tim Holtz blog at the beginning of January and have now put mine together from memory.  I have a feeling it isn't even close to Tim's but.. a valiant effort!  I will find out for sure when I check his after posting mine!

For my tag I had to improvise quite a bit.  The sentiment is one that I picked out for the recipient of the tag.  He is a friend of my son who has his degree and is now venturing into politics.  I hope he likes it!

The gears were painted with silver paint and then once dry, rubbed with a VersaMark pad and sprinkled with Stampendous Aged Taupe Embossing Enamel and sprinkled with Zing Black glossy embossing powder.

The film strip that Tim used wasn't available here so I used a ticket die and acrylic from a Spellbinder package.  I rubbed THoltz silver paint dauber and rubbed it in with my finger... and removed some as well.  This gave it a cloudy effect.

Tim used a pointed finger stamp which I didn't have so I cut one out with my Cricut using the Going Places cartridge.

The tag itself was distressed and then I stamped the Hero Arts Watch Gears stamp using Vintage Photo.  I quickly poured clear embossing powder over it all which gave it a nice glossy finish.

The strip with the sentiment was first stamped with Hero Arts Map of Americas using Distress Frayed Burlap.  The edges were distressed and then I used Vintage Photo on the edges.

My ribbon was first stamped with Archival Black, dried and then rubbed in Distress Honey.  It didn't turn out as I had hoped but... you live and learn!

Here are some closer views so you can see what I have been talking about!

The recipe is...
Stamps - Hero Arts Clock Gears and Map Of Americas
Inks - Distress Iced Spruce, Wild Honey, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs
          VersaMark
Embossing Powders - Ranger Super Fine Clear, Stampendous Aged Taupe Enamel, Zing
Dies - Tim Holtz Gears
Cricut - Going Places Cartridge
Paper - Recollections, Staples 110 lb.
Seam Binding

Thanks for looking!

Dots, Chicks, Dots, Chicks, Dots!

Good Evening Chicks!

I picked up this stamp a couple of weeks ago and decided to play with it tonight.  The lighting is terrible in the evenings but will have to do.

This is my interpretation of the sketch over at The Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  There should be three things along the bottom and I'm counting the two brads and the sentiment in the middle as the other.  Guess I'm just a rebel at heart...like my friend Gail!!

Here is a closeup so you can see the stickles on the bunny ears...

Here's the recipe...

Stamp:  Stampendous! V164 Chickie hop from the Calendar Chicks collection
Sentiment:  Penny Black
Paper:  Little yellow Bicycle, Staples 110 lb. white and unknown
Fiskars punch
Ribbon - Offray from Michaels bargain bin
Copics
Diamond Stickles (I should have done fur on the ears but thought about it too late
Brads with Stickles on top
Pop Dots

Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a wonderful evening!

Hugs,
Sheree

Odds & Sodds Times Four!

Good Evening Chicks!

I have four cards in the post tonight.  I've been working on putting them together for the past couple of days..rearranging this and rearranging that when I had a few minutes here and there.  I'm happy with the outcome although not jumping up and down haha!

This first card was done using the Penny Black stamp from the Slapstick collection.  I've been wanting this one for a very long time and accidentally found it.. up here in Campbell River!
The ducks are coloured with copics; The candy hearts are from a Fiskars set I found a long time ago on a bargain table for $1.  The background heart was cut with the Cricut and behind that is a paper doily from Wiltons.  I found a place up here where I can buy 1,000 paper doilies for $14 so may pick up some and give them away in the future!

The recipe is...
Stamps:  Penny Black & Fiskars
Paper: Recollections and Staples 110 lb. white
Copics
Ribbon:  Wally World
CuttleBug Swiss Dots
Wilton Doily

This next card is sort of a Valentine's Day card.  You can tell by the sentiment on the inside.  I used a stamp from Penny Black (Love her stuff!!) and then distressed around the edges at first and then in the middle to give it more oomph!  The background was done with the CuttleBug and then distressed with Honey.  The sentiment is one I picked from Inkadinkado after winning at The Outlawz!
The recipe is....
Stamps:  Penny Black & Inkadinkado
Paper:  Staples 110 lb white, Recollections
Cuttle Bug - Cant remember the folder name
Distress inks:  Festive Berries. Wild Honey, Versafine
Jellyroll Stardust Pen - Red

This is one of my faves from this group.  I watched a video done by Jill Foster at the Penny Black bog and  did th version by memory a few days after watching it.   Mine is nowhere near the quality of Jill Fosters but I like the bright colours.  I had to use a different stamp from Stampendous called Agapanthus cluster and stamped the image five times using a different colour each time.

The recipe is...
Stamps:  Stampendous, Studio G
Inks:  Distress Wild Honey, Preserves, Shabby Shutters, Festive Berries, Broken China
Paper:  Staples, Recollections
Bling

The fourth and final card is really quite kewl IRL.  I cut the heart out of the front cardstock with the Cricut.  Red glimmer paper was taped to the back of the opening.  It was too bare so I added two heart layers done with the Cricut as well.

The recipe is...
Stamp:  Inkadinkado
Paper:  Staples, Recollections
Stampendous heart stickers

Well, there you have it.  A glimpse of what I have been up to the past few days.  Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

I Love Paris....

Good Evening Everyone!

I put this together last night.  I came close to the idea that was in my head but need to tweek the design a bit more.  Instead of heart brads holding down the corners I would love to find something that would make kewl Victorian photo holders.  Something like that would tie in with the Eiffel Tower nicely especially if it had a wrought iron look without the wrought iron price!  If I find something to use along that line I will post it at a later date!

I started by stamping on a small piece of white cardstock.  It's hard to see in the photo but I used Antique Linen Distress to stamp a background behind the tower.  The leaves and flowers are coloured with distress inks and I went outside the lines with the sponging on purpose.  Next I used a light grey copic and gave PARIS a shadow which also made them stand out more.
The mesh background is from a roll that I bought at the dollar store before Christmas.  It unravels easily but that's alright for this one.  The gold tinsel that is woven into it slides out easily so may just pull it all out next time.  I was thinking that I may distress the weave before cutting it as well.
Lastly, I accented the flowers with pink Stickles.  It made them stand out a lot more!

The recipe is:
Stamps -  Stampendous CRP144 - I Love Paris
               Penny Black 1999L Letter Background
Distress Inks - Wild Honey, Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters
Adirondack Dye Inks - Pink Sherbet
Versa Fine Black
Paper - Staples 110 lb. and unknown
Stickles
Brads
Ribbon - WalMart
Bow Easy

Have a wonderful work week!
Hugs,
Sheree

Just thought I'd share something wierd and funny with you as well.  I occasionally go into Stats to see where my viewers are coming from.  The largest source????  http://www.justforlaughsgags.tv/  I went to this link and found there's nothing there that I can see that would refer anyone to my blog.  Go figure!!

Birthday Card For My Good Friend...

Good Morning Chicks!

It's finally the weekend!  A good friend of mine is having a birthday this Sunday so I whipped up this card last night to take along with a beautiful floral arrangement.

I've had this beautiful dahlia stamp in my file for quite a while now and am so glad I finally pulled it out!  The flower was stamped in Regal Rose and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Using Copics, I added some dimension to the flower but it was done lightly so as not to overpower the flower itself.  I found a piece of pink cardstock that matched perfectly so it must  be a Stampin' Up! piece that I've had buried for a long while.  The sentiment is also Stampin' Up! and is embossed in the most gorgeous gold that you aren't able to purchase anymore.

Here's the recipe!

Stamps:
Dahlia - Stampendous Jumbo Dahlia Set
Sentiment - Stampin' Up!
Ink:
Regal Rose - Stampin' Up!
Embossing Powder:
Clear - Hero Arts
Copics
Paper:
Stampin' Up!?, Staples 110 lb. cardstock white
Butterfly:  WalMart

Thanks for looking and happy stamping to all you crafters!

Hugs,
Sheree

Eat Your Heart Out Victoria!!

Good Afternoon Chickees!
It's Sunday afternoon and I'm down in the basement for a wee bit posting this because it's soooo hot outside!  When you add the heat to hot flashes.... Let's just say I'd love to fly to Alaska right now and run around with no clothes on!  Haha!  Second thought... I'd probably be run out of there in a hurry!
My DH has come down with a nasty cold and headache.  After I post this I must go purchase some more drugs for him.  I'm planning the funeral for this coming Friday.
My wonderful 'Stamp Eater' dog has taken a liking to my Holey shoes!  It just took me over an hour to find it this time.  Purlita had it in her fort!  Worse than having 10 - 2 year olds around!

Now.. Back to today's post!

I did another shopping trip to my favourite stamping store, Crafty Capers, last Thursday.  This has become a regular thing to do after working in Nanaimo on Thursdays!  The Stampscape stamps were in for the 'Cards for Ethyl' candy, so I picked them up along with a couple of things for myself!  Bad, Bad, Sheree!
I spotted this stamp a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd better pick it up as it was the only one.  Victoria said it had been there since last year and she'd be so upset if I made something awesome with it... because she didn't have one or sold it at the garage sale or something.

Here is the first card I created. I'm not too sure I'm happy with it because I got stuck with the ribbon.  I'm going to do some more with this stamp and will add the cards to this posting as I complete them!
I distressed the background paper and although it's hard to see it in this picture, it's of old catalogues... maybe even the Sears Wishbook?  Who knows...  I deckled the edges with my Fiskars scissors and then distress the edges before scrunching them up.  The image is embossed in gold which makes staying in the lines a lot easier haha!
This second card is my current favourite.  It is also embossed in gold and coloured with Copics.  I liked the clean look with this one and the background paper is gold with a medium sheen to it.
In this photo you will see the embossing and now that I have it up on the screen... it shows how I have a hard time staying inside the lines hahahaha!  Better luck next time!
The recipe for the above is:
Stamps:
Stampendous! - Poinsettia Corner
Sentiment - Unknown
Ink:
VersaMark
Copics
Gold embossing powder
Stickles - Sunshine Yellow (kind of looks like roe in the pic??)
Distress Ink Pad - Old Paper
Thanks for looking and I hope you have a wonderful work week!

Sheree

Get Well Cards Needed!!!

Update!  August 7, 2011

Hi Everyone!

Well... it seems that I've received every card except one and I know that one is definitely on it's way!

Thanks to Brenda, I have some cutouts done with the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Birdcage Die!  If you head on over to her blog, this die is being offered as her birthday candy this month!  Two of the birds are stuck together as you can use more than one paper at a time with this die!
Thanks soooo much Brenda.. For your card and the addition of candy!!

There is a wonderful, generous woman named Regina who resides in the United States and is a friend of Brenda, who generously offerered to add to the candy!
When I received her e-mail in the beginning, Regina mentioned that she'd like to send along some flowers to be included in the candy that I was offering.  I arrived home from work a few days ago and there was a good sized box on the porch.  Here I was thinking that an envelope would arrive along with her card with a few flowers in it.  When I opened the box.... This is what I saw!!!

I am still in shock!!
There are jars of gorgeous flowers, nexted containers of gorgeous flowers, a huge pile of loose flowers on top and then a pile of stamps!!!  Wow!!  I e-mailed Regina and asked how she would like the candy distributed and she answered back... whichever way I like... So, this is what I'm going to do!
I'll be adding stamps and flowers to the original three candy prizes.  Then I'll add a bunch more flowers to the Tim Holtz cutouts along with a prize of stamps and flowers!!  How does that sound?
The winners names will be put on this post tomorrow... Monday, August 14th.  I will also be sending an e-mail to everyone who sent the cards as there are some non-bloggers that participated.
Good Luck Everyone!  I'll be announcing names late Monday evening!

Hugs,
Sheree

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  Canada Day was on the 1st and Independence Day is on the 4th so both of us have long weekends.

Now... here's the reason I'm hoping Blogland can help me!

One of our customers at the shop is Ethyl Sanders.  She and her husband come over from Quadra Island to Campbell River for supplies and we work on their equipment.
Approximately 1 year ago, if I remember right, Ethyl was in her kitchen cooking and tripped over one of their dogs.  Her head hit the woodstove and knocked her out so she didn't know one side of her face was being burned by the hot cast iron stove.  When she came to, she went to the mirror and was mortified to see that half of her face was severely burnt!
Since the accident, Ethyl has endured four surgeries for grafting.  Skin was harvested from her head for one surgery, back for another, front for another, with these three surgeries each being rejected.   She is in the hospital right now going through hell with the fourth operation.
Being that she rejected the first three graftings for her lips, jaw, cheek and ear, the specialist in Vancouver decided to try another approach.  For the past few months Ethyl has had a balloon inserted into her neck to stretch the skin slowly.  Everything was looking fantastic and she once again went to Vancouver for facial reconstruction.  This fourth operation took place on June 24th.  The operation was a success until... somehow she came into contact with a virus floating around in the hospital and her new face became infected!  Since Saturday, June 25th, Ethyl has had to endure the surgeon pulling the skin away and scraping all the affected tissue three times, without any freezing.  I found this out when her husband came in on Friday the 1st of July.  His eyes were teared up as he explained everything to me.  He was heading home to find out the news of whether that day's operation was a success or not.  She had talked to him on the phone Thursday night and said that if they were going to do it again without putting her out she was going to get up and leave.
That is the horrible part of Ethyl's ordeal.  I met Ethyl when she came in one day and had a gorgeous silk scarf around her neck and tied in a bow.  It was obvious what the scarf was concealing.  Now, keep in mind that Ethyl must be in her mid to late 70's because they are great-grandparents!  I have never seen anyone look so regal and taking everything in stride!!  With her hair done and makeup on, donned in a suit and scarf she was absolutely gorgeous!  She is funny as heck and her eyes dance when she talks!  We talked for quite a while that day and she promised she would come show me the results after what was supposed to be the last operation.
Her husband and I spoke for quite a while on Friday.  It turns out that Ethyl is loved by everyone she touches!  Ethyls is not only gorgeous on the outside... but twice as gorgeous on the inside!
I am in possession of Ethyl's address on the island as I wanted to make a card to send over because I think of her so often!  While making the card tonight I thought... wouldn't it be wonderful if I could have cards sent from all over to let her know she is being thought of!  Which brings me to.....
If you would like to send a card you can e-mail me at sheree29 at telus dot net.  I will give you the address of our shop as I'm always there it seems!  All cards will be forwarded on to their Quadra Island address.  Everyone who sends a card will be entered to win some goodies!  I'm not able to give out huge candy right now but was thinking about some Stampscape stamps so you can try making scenes of your own.  What do you think?
Because of our postal strike/lockout, Victoria at Crafty Capers in Nanaimo, won't have Stampscape stamps in for a few weeks.  I'll stamp the ones I'll put in a bundle so you can see what the candy will be once it comes in!

Here's my card for Ethyl!

Stamps used:
Stampendous - Agapanthus Cluster
Stampin' Up! - Greeting
Papers - Vellum, K & Company, Stampin' Up!
Ink - Brilliance White, Distress - Old Paper
Ranger Alcohol Inks used on vellum
Embossing powder - Burgandy and White opaque
Flowers - Home made using Nancy's tutorial here (Nancy's are waaay better!)
Diamond Stickles
Corner rounder punch
Pop dots!

Thanks for looking and I'm hoping everyone has a safe but wonderful long weekend!

Update!!
I will be adding a photo of the candy I am putting together for the draw from names of card submitters Monday morning.  It has been hard choosing which Stampscape stamps to put together so... I have decided that I will put together TWO batches of candy!  If I win the lottery this coming week I will send a full set of Stampscapes to all that send Ethyl a card!
Update: July 10, 2011
Those e-mailing me, or messaging me by Wednesday, July 13th will be eligible for the prizes!  Sorry but, I have to do a cut-off date lol!  All cards sent will be taken over to Ethyl on Quadra Island once they are received.
I tried to get an update by phone on Saturday but there was no answer.  I'm hoping that everything is going fine at the hospital in Vancouver (city of the 2010 Olympics).  As I find out information I will post it on the blog!  Thank you for all of the responses!!  I'm so excited to gather them all together and present them to Ethyl!

Here is the candy to be won... so far!!  There will be two winners drawn.....make that three!!

Oooops... Having a little glitch!  I will post the pics tomorrow morning on my work computer.  Blogger can act up at times for some reason no matter which browser you use....Dont forget to check back!

For the first prize the winner will receive:

             Stampscapes Nature Sheet #6

The second prize winner will receive:

Stampscapes Nature Sheet #8

There is a possibility that I'll be adding to these prizes.  I'll have to see what Victoria has in stock at Crafty Capers in Nanaimo!

The third prize winner will receive:
Third prize is a set of two stamps... two of my favourites... Lakeside cove and Pines and Rocks.  Just these two stamps create beautiful scenes for those hard to do 'Guy Cards'!!

Nancy is adding some cash  to the loot so will pick out something for prize number 4!  Thank you to my wonderful friend Nancy!

Gina is sending along some flowers to add to the loot as well!    Thank you sooo much Gina!!

Stampendous Happy Birthday

I had another hard day at work last Thursday so decided that I needed to treat myself (once again)!!  I found this gorgeous paper from My Mind's Eye 'quite contrary collection at Crafty Capers in Nanaimo, a few sheets of coordinating cardstock along with a new stamp Stampendous! called Agapanthus Cluster.  This is the picture I imagined on my drive home and it finally came to fruition last night!  If you look closely in the photo you can see that I stamped one lighter image and then embossed a darker ink in the foreground.  I didn't have any darker ink in that hue so went with this and like the softness it exudes.

Papers:      My Mind's Eye; Unknown cardstock (help me out Victoria); Misc. cream
Stamps:     Stampendous!; Just Rite greeting
Ink:           SEI; Versa Ink Spot
Pearls:       Dollarama
Ribbon:     Sheer cream from WalMart
Embossing Powder: Clear Pearl (I'll run back upstairs and check that one!)
Pop Dots
Circle punch for ticket corners
Thanks for looking!

Zesty Thanks!

Good Morning Everyone!

Just another quickie post today.  I needed a thank you card to send to one of our customers because I've made some Mason Bee houses and he's supplying me with the bees!  Can hardly wait to see how many apples we'll get this year!

The papers I used are unknown except for the one behind the 'Thanks' which I did with alcohol inks.  The solid orange/yellow is from an old stash of Stampin' Up! I have.  The bow was done on the 'Bow Easy'.  The stamps are from Stampendous and it's the first time using them... Wish I had brought them out sooner!  Copics were used to colour the letters.
I just love the cards at Feline Creative so tried a layout of my own.  Karen creates the most beautiful cards so I layered my papers and stitched the edges similar.
Everything went together well and looked great.  I should have stopped there!  While watching a show I wondered how the letters would look with more stickles but in Orange Peel.  The orange shows up a little too much for my liking but... it was too late to turn back.  They say you learn something new every day and.. I have once again!
Thanks for looking and hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
