Guest Designer At Quirky Crafts Challenge!

Good Day Chicks!

Last week I won a challenge at Quirky Crafts Challenge and was so excited!   When I finally realized and responded I was asked to be a guest designer for their new challenge starting today!  How about that!

The theme for this challenge is The First Signs of Spring!  The sponsor for this challenge is The Stamping Boutique  You MUST go over and check out all of the designs for digi and rubber images.  I'll definitely be going back there for more as she has the nicest digis of flowers in watering cans that I've seen yet.

The daffodil design I chose to use is here.  I originally wanted to colour the watering can and tulips digi but when I started to colour... my grey copic died on me!  I must head to the store for some must have shopping.  When I get the right colours I will  be doing a card using it.  Can hardly wait!

Another requirement for the DT was to make a First Signs of Spring card using the Double Z-Fold Card.  Another 'first' for me!  I think it turned out kind of kewl so will probably end up making another one!

When I did the daffodil I printed out one more so I could colour a few different parts and then cut them out and use them for a 3D effect on the flower and leaf.  I'm not sure if you can see it but there's a few drops of  Glossy Accents to imitate dew drops.  Lastly I used some yellow stickles to add a bit of glimmer.

The recipe is as follows:

Daffodil Digi:  The Stamping Boutique
Sentiment Stamp:  Studio G (Dollar bin at Michaels)
Butterfly:  Stampin' Up!
Paper:  Three Bugs In A Rug, Bazzil, Staples 110 lb. White
Copic Sketch Markers
Stickles
Ribbon:  WalMart
Punches and Sewing Machine
Pop Dots

There you have it!  I'm off to have another look at The Stamping Boutique Digis!

Hope you all have a wonderful work week!
Hugs,
Sheree

Flourishes - Masculine Card

Hey there Chickees!
Yep... I'm back for a wee bit.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks at work and at home.  Painting the exterior of the house is taking a little longer than usual.

I'll post more later... had a 6.8 earthquake north of us and aftershocks are supposed to happen.  We only felt a little bit here but must head home to check my puppies cuz they are probably scared..

Talk to you soon!!

Hugs,
Sheree

Back in business.  The earthquake wasn't that bad but I have a dog that sees ghosts and flies freak him out.  Max needed a big hug when I got home haha!

Back to the card I posted!  The image is from Flourishes - What a Catch! set.  I found this set two weeks ago and have been playing around with different colour combinations.  This one ... I like!

There's a fish hook tied to the sisal twine but it moved while I took the picture so the hook end is hard to see.  It's there though!!

The recipe is as follows:
Stamps - Flourishes, Studio G
Ink - Memento Black, Distress - Burlap
Paper - Staples, Recollections, Stampin' Up!
Ribbon - Looks like fishnet but is actually 2 1/2 inch woven that I stretched out of shape.  This one is dark green and gold woven in
Colouring - Copics
CuttleBug - Woodgrain folder
Embossing powder - Crafty Capers glittery copper
Spellbinders Diamond Dies
Pop dots

There you have it!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Sheree

Copper Christmas!

Hello there Chicks!

I'm wondering if you all can now guess what my favourite Christmas element is???  You guessed it.. copper!  I went on another wee shopping spree at Crafty Capers in Nanaimo today.  I just couldn't help myself and purchased two more of the Letterpress Ink Plates ... well.. someone had to!  Besides, I now own the gas cap of Victoria's new car!  I'll be playing with the Ink Plates tonight and tomorrow to see what I can do with them and will post whatever I create!

**Note to self...  Do not attempt to design cards after eating dinner when you're already tired.  Brain blood goes to join the stomach digesting blood ... One cannot be responsible for ideas that come from such an altered state!

So... This is a card I created for the sketch challenge over at The Outlawz.  Everything was going fine until I had a brain fart and thought I should sponge some copper around the edge of the oval!  Of coarse I decided to do this after adding the pearls and stickles to the wreath which meant.. post it anyway!   With the shading, the eye is draw to the wreath and if you LOOK at the card you will see that the wreath is even crooked haha!  Here is a closeup of the embossed wreath..

I also learned last night that if you emboss with clear powder over Brilliance Cosmic Copper ink.. it washes out the colour of the ink.  This is why I went to work adding stickles and pearls.

So, there you have it!  Here's the recipe for the monstrousity!

Paper:   White heavy cardstock from Staples.  Copper is unknown.
Ink:  Brilliance Cosmic Copper Pigment Ink
Spellbinder:  Oval
CuttleBug: Snowflake
Pearls:  Dollarama
Stickles:  Copper
Ribbon:  Sheer Copper - WalMart
White brads.. the holey kind lol
M.Stewart Scor Board

Thanks for looking and I'll see you over at The Outlawz!!

Hugs,
Sheree

Hint:  If you are looking for the holey brads (can't think of the proper name right now) and you like the metal finish... head into the hardware store!  Mega cheap!

Love Penny Black's Flowers!!

Penny Black has a new set of flower stamps out called 'Flower Gallery!'  I just LOVE them!!  Crafty Capers in Nanaimo is one of my favourite stamp shops.  I am known for buying all of the 'last ones' that Victoria has in stock lol!!  This is the same shop that I purchase all of my Stampscape stamps as well.

This is a closeup view of the flowers.  They are coloured with copics and highlighted with Stickles and Liquid Pearls.  The stickles only show when the card is tilted.
Here's the recipe for this card...

Paper:
Stampin' Up!, Recollections and unknown

Flourishes Mother's Day FLLCMay11

I know Mother's Day is overwith but... Flourishes is having a challenge and the winner receives all four sets of new release stamps!  I LOVE Flourishes stamps and would LOVE to add these kewl new sets to my collection!!
For this card I used a stamp from the Sweet Peas set.  This was coloured with Copics along with one other impression to be cut out adding dimension with pop dots.  The background is glossy paper smooshed in Ranger Alcohol Inks.  It's rather abstract but I think its a good contrast with the image.  Happy Mother's Day was stamped with Versa Mark and embossed with Tinsel Red.
Here's a close up view...
The recipe for this card is as follows:
Stamps:      Flourishes Sweet Peas, Stampin' Up! Sentiment
Papers:      Glossy and White Stampin' Up!
Inks:          Versa Mark Yellow, Stampin' Up, Copics, Ranger Alcohol Inks in
                  Sunshine Yellow, Red Pepper, Cranberry
Stickles     Yellow, Diamond
Doily         Wilton - Michael's
Other         Recollections bling, Pop dots, Red Tinsel embossing powder
Thanks for looking.... Hope I win those four new sets!!  One is a fisherman's set and being that I have all boys who fish it would be the perfect aquisition!
Hugs,
Sheree

I worked on this card earlier this past week but was changing this and that all the time until it was finished two evenings later.  The shop was so busy this week that I didn't have time to post a thing!  I was up early this morning with my pups so headed down to the old computer to upload and post while the rest of the world lay sleeping.
I've loved this stamp for a long time now and finally sat down with my Copics to colour it in and bring it to life.

Optical Illusion Sympathy Card

First off... Hi Everyone!
I found out yesterday that our neighbour's dog passed away at 7 years due to liver failure.  She was a gorgeous, intelligent, mild mannered shepherd/lab cross and we will miss her dearly... along with our other neighbours with whom she'd go visit when she was bored.
I wanted to stick a little card in their post box because I knew their three young boys were heartbroken.
Now... before I see question marks show up on your foreheads I'd like to say that this card has squared corners and the sides are actually straight!  Being the wonderful photographer that can screw up a photo on 'auto-pilot,' it looks like it ate too many brownies!  Truth is... I ate too many brownies!

The main cardstock is from a batch I bought at Staples when the dinosaurs roamed the earth and it is a mottled tan.  Others are unknown except for the patterned which is sei Moonrise Moss.... From Crafty Capers - Nanaimo.  The ribbon is from Staples and the brown pearls from Dollarama.
The stamps on the main image are from Stampin' Up! along with the sentiment.  Inside the card I used Impression Obsession stamps.  Inks used were True Thyme and Old Olive from Stampin' Up! and Sage from.... an inkspot!  lol
Now.. I'm sure it's the corners that make my card look fat!!  Good old Martha punches helped me achieve that effect.
There you have it!  Wish I could show you that it does really look anerexic (sp?)
Have a great evening and I'll be popping around to comment after I watch Glee!
Hugs,
Sheree

p.s.  I am still roaring about your comment on the Stampscapes post from earlier today Jacki!!!  I may try a hedge next time!!  I am a firm believer in 'Living On The Edge'!

Flourishes Wedding/Birthday/Girlie Card

Good Evening My Friends!
Sorry about not posting much this past week...errr..nothing!  I've been busy in the yard and with all the nice weather the shop has been busier than heck!  That's a good thing in general but not for blogging!
I've been playing with this Flourishes card for days now.  The stamping and colouring were the easy parts!  This is one of my favourites and made the mistake of picking papers after I coloured instead of before.  BIG lesson learned!
The image was coloured with the following Copics: YR00, RV21, R85, RV34, YG13, YG63, YG67 and C2.  I'm my own worst critic but really like how this turned out!  I coloured two images and then cut out pieces of one and layered them onto the original for a 3D effect with 1/16th thick pop dots.  Some of the dots had to be cut into tiny pieces in order to make them not show.
Background papers are from Bazzil (sp?), K & Company along with unknown.  The paper doilies were from my Candy that I won from
T-Bear's Touch blog owned by Trisha!  Did I ever get some beautiful items in that box!  I purchased a new Fiskar's punch at Wally World today and used it for my butterfly along with Glossy Accents and bling.  Two background papers were cut out with Spellbinders and the pink embossed with Swiss Dots.  The edges of the doilies and the patterned background paper were distressed with Old Paper.  I also added Diamond Stickles to the sunkissed areas of the Sweet Peas and Leaves.
The tough part with this card is trying to figure out how I can embellish some more with ribbon.  I've tried two different types of bows in two different types of ribbon and I'm stumped!  This past week I've been trying different papers, positions on the card along with others but this is as far as I've gotten.... yikes!  Any ideas??
Thanks for looking!  Hope you all have a wonderful work week!

Hugs,
Sheree

Anniversary Card

Hi Everyone!

I was feeling creative last night and started playing with all of my 'stuff.' The Happy Anniversary stamp from Inkadinkado was purchased last month and then I really felt the need for the large Spellbinders so picked them up too! Seeing as the budget was now blown I wasn't able to pick up some awesome looking blue flowers so... I tried making my own as I had watched Tammy's tutorial last week! So... Hmm.. didn't have the right flower punch and ended up looking through my Cricut cartridges and found one sort of similar on the Accent Essentials cartridge (pg. 63). When I had them put together and curled they looked awesome! Thought I'd take it a bit further and used my Stampin' Up! watercolour crayons to deepen the colour of each petal towards the center. Once they were put together I added Diamond Stickles to all petals on the outside edges. The picture makes them look like cr#* and honestly... they really do look better here in front of me!
I embossed the stamped image with Stampendous Blue Tinsel on top of Stonewashed Blue ink. Tried using clear Versamark but the blue embossing was too transparant. The second layer was put through the CB with the paisley folder. The ribbon was done on the 'Bow Easy' with thin cream and a dark blue that I've had around since dinosaurs roamed the earth. The heart stick pin was purchased the other day. What a score! There were loads of them in cream and also red for $4.00 at The River Scrapbook Room in Campbell River! I picked up the webbed ribbon? at the same shop. The cream was just toooooo creamy so picked up Distress Aged Paper today (now I've REALLY blown the budget!) as they were out of Antique Linen. That seemed to do the trick and made the embossing stand out a lot better. Added pop dots here and there for dimension and there you have it!... My 'Out of my comfort zone' card! Using 3-D flowers and extra ribbon along with pins is foreign to me so even though it's not a perfect card... I'm on my way to getting there!
Thanks for looking and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Valentine For My Boys!

Good Morning!
Well... I now have glitter spreading throughout the house! We had another windy day/evening with heavy rain so spent the evening in my craft room making up Valentines for the boys as they'll all be home for a roast dinner tonight.
The papers used were Bo-Bunny, Kraft and some unknown red I had in the drawer. I used the oval Nestabilities, Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots and an unknown CB Woodgrain. The stamp is from Penny Black and the hearts were punched from Sukwang (sp?) and loaded with red glitter. I did the hearts a couple of times because I didn't put the Sukwang on the red paper first... hence having more glitter than usual flying around. My 8 month old rescue dog also helped herself to some glittered hearts and spread them around the house!
The stamp was coloured with copics and being that I wasn't adventurous it's coloured like the picture on the stamp.
Thanks for looking!

Season's Greetings

This card is so much cuter in real life. The picture doesn't do it justice at all. I learned how to do the weave at the top in a class last December. I was surprised at how easy it really was to do and will be incorporating it into designs in the future.
The medallions are Spellbinders Fleur de lis and are popped up with the center medallion raised a bit higher.
I found some awesome precut cards that were clearing out at She Runs With Scissors in Campbell River. After cutting them down a bit and adding the weave I inserted a pearlized cardstock underneath. This off- white is also used as the top strip under the medallions.
After adding the bling I decided it was finished and ready to go! This card has also been done with the same off-white cardstock underneath and the top layer was a metallic dark teal green. The green version is the more stunning of the two but... I sent it away before taking a picture!
Hope you like it and thanks for looking!
